Drone regulation state that you must have an advanced level permit in order to fly in any airspace other than class G. The problem that we are seeing is that most people don’t know! Here is a quick explanation of what class G airspace is.
Class G airspace is all airspace that is not another classification. It is what we call “open” airspace. Other types of airspace have special classifications that tell us what they are used for, how they are used, if and how they are controlled, and what can be done in them.
The airspace classification system is a critical part of managing air traffic for both manned and unmanned aircraft. Without the classification system it would be very unclear on what has to happen where and who is responsible for what.
